Helping people experience restoration.

Compassion Ministry

Material poverty is not just the absence of wealth. Instead, it results from the combination of brokenness in four key relationships...God, self, others, and creation.

We want to come alongside those who are struggling with material poverty. Our goal is to humbly help people find restoration with God, self and others. We seek to do this by forming empowering friendships and helping individuals build a network of support within the church community.

We believe the best way to help is through…

1. Compassionate Relationships

Fueled by God’s grace we will form relationships with those who are materially poor. Because benevolence is relational, we are prepared to walk alongside and learn from the people that we help.

2. Radical Generosity

When necessary, we will be generous with monetary relief, but our primary goal is to be generous in helping people through a development process. This will require time, love, patience, support, friendship, presence, forgiveness, repentance, etc.

3. Together

While not dismissing a person’s material needs we will focus on helping them discover their God-given gifts, talents, resources, and potential. In other words, we will do benevolence with them and not to them or for them.

4. Collaboration

Because material poverty is complex, we will collaborate with other organizations and individuals who have a similar goal for ministering to the materially poor.

5. Disciple-Making Friendship

We believe that the primary mission of the church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. The most significant need for restoration is restoration with God. Because of this, we will humbly live and speak the Good News of Jesus to those who come to us seeking material assistance.

Are you in need of help?

What to expect…

Once we receive your request, you will be put in touch with one of our Compassion Team Members. They will walk you through an intake process that usually takes 1-2 gatherings.

After completing the intake, you will work through an Action Plan with a Compassion Team Member. The purpose of the Action Plan is to help you come up with longer-term solutions for your current struggles. While working through an Action Plan, the church will provide relational encouragement and financial assistance where applicable.

While our process doesn’t usually result in immediate financial help, it does provide you a network of support through the church community. We believe that a network of friendship and community can provide help that is empowering and long-lasting.
